Canberra Spirituality Church offers fortnightly Sunday Services, Classes, Special Events and Workshops to enhance personal and spiritual growth and foster wholeness in mind-body-spirit.
We honour the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God.
Universal love is within each of us guiding us to dynamically express our wholeness, wisdom and abundance. We acknowledge the universal wisdom in the teachings of many spiritual masters and on varied spiritual paths.
Our mission is to be a sanctuary where we support a diversity of spiritual ideas, and where all can know Universal energies.
This is a Church of Spirituality, not a Spiritualist Church. As such it welcomes speakers from all paths, encourages links to spirit through personal development and spiritual growth, encourages new mediums in training to develop their connection to Spirit on platform, and as a progressive church is committed to keep openness, learning and transparency flowing. Growth is part of our path, part of your path, part of the path of those on platform. We will not support the unintelligent black and whites of absolute perfection or total failure which is where most people go whenever something is 'not good enough'.
The idea of not being good enough has closed more hearts, ended more relationships, caused more wars and created more regression for the human race than any other limited thought we could conceive with our tiny brains!
Mistakes are how we grow, trauma is how we learn best, practice makes perfect, and the link with Spirit is tenuous at best for even the strongest and most famous of mediums.
Training never stops for a medium. There is not one so-called developed or established medium in Canberra who has managed to deliver clear and definitive links to spirit 100% of the time. There is very little in the way of training here, and most training, if available, has not realised its potential.
Spirit is patient, and so shall we be, with those who seek to work with spirit in such a way. By allowing the space here for our new mediums to gather confidence will mirror your own ability to give yourself the generosity of time and patience to also grow.
This is a new church and we need to be new within it. Old rules do not apply. Secrecy will not apply. Uncomfortable change and unpopularity will be part of this Church's evolution. You are welcome to join us for the ride or it's perfectly fine for you to choose another, perhaps more traditional place to visit. I trust you to follow your path towards creating a world where you and everyone else, wins.
Spirit has always been quite clear in its vision for this Church - to go beyond the norm, to break free of the petty politics and structure of existing churches - and to expand into the unknown. Thus I encourage all those who think they know better to have the courage to move into a place of NOT knowing, as their evolution and the progress of any church depends upon this new and brave step.
Light requires commitment and courage. The new and the different will always be seen as threatening for those who carry fear of the unknown. Look at the challenges that all great spiritual teachers have had to walk - Gandhi, Mandela, Mohammed.
No matter what our spiritual path or religion, most of us can agree that Jesus Christ was one of the great teachers. In Luke 11:34, he was believed to say - the light of the body is the eye; therefore when thine eye is single, they whole body is full of light, but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Translation, if you focus like a laser on spiritual evolution and transformation, your whole body will be full of truth and power. But if you split your attention, get stuck in the lowest choice of your energy, cling to old ways, you will not achieve the heights of light attainment.
Remember: Everything in the universe is comprised of Light. Therefore, the more light, the more everything - from the tangible to the intangible. That's exciting isn't it?
The word 'evil' is 'live' spelled backwards. To be evil, to consciously and deliberately seek to have power over others and restrict their Light, is to live in a backward way, to live in darkness - the opposite of light.
I like this teaching. It tells us that you and I have to choosr which master we're going to serve. Are we going to operate like the majority of the population in a physical world and hope for spirit to take pity on us and throw us a bone, or are we going to access who we truly are, beyond our fears of loss of control, beyond our fears of sharing success, beyond our fears of the essence of Light being limited - and like, conscious adults, begin to co-create the results we choose in our life?
Which do you choose? Whichever path, choose whole-heartedly. One cannot be spiritual for one hour a day and spend the rest of your week harming others and consequently oneself with lower actions, thoughts and deeds. Pursue the Light with a single eye. This is the true spiritual vibration. When you experience your true giving and godly nature, you enter a state of grace, but it takes courage and a knowledge that single minded commitment to Light will always attract the weaker gaze of others less able or in fact, less ready..
At the first service, these words were spoken. I would like to repeat them again.
As the author Marianne Williamson said, and these words were echoed by Nelson Mandela in his inauguration speech, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
What is a Spirituality Church? The word 'Church' is a bit off-putting...
A Spirituality church is similar to any church in that it offers a place for you to slip out of the rest of your busy life and find that place within you that knows how to connect with Spirit, how to trust the flow of your life and how to look at your life from a more loving, powerful and harmless perspective. What it is not similar to would be a traditional church in a religious sense of the word. It is believed that one often travels through religious lives to spiritual lives - the difference being that Spirituality is about the expansion of Light, learning how to trust the connection to one's own initiative and intuition and breaking free of the old religious man-made rules about duty, guilt, shame, segregation and authority.
We are all connected to God, Goddess, Great Spirit, Universal Light, Buddha, Mohammed, Jesus - whoever and whatever your belief system allows - and we also carry a spark of that divinity within us to develop and heal ourselves with, and the others. To take our Light beyond us is our life purpose and in essence, it not what we do during our time on this planet - it is about who we are, and what we choose to project, every day.
At our church, the mood is light, meditative, healing and the music is contemporary and uplifting, with an interesting talk each service about an aspect of life and how to get the best out of it. Then, at the end of a service is the medium, who, as someone connected to both the physical and the spiritual worlds (a bit like a telephone operator) can offer messages from either loved ones in Spirit or advice from your team of guides. Everyone has this ability, and these mediums are no different to you, except that they are using themselves as an instrument through which Light (and with it information, knowledge or healing) is passed - similar to a bridge between 'heaven' and 'earth'. By learning how to clear a space within oneself, we can all use this ability.
We also offer mediumship, healing, reiki, spiritual and personal growth courses and classes for those who would like to develop their own inner wisdom and abilities, and am always happy to offer volunteer positions at Church for those who would like to now take their work beyond themselves.
In time, we will also be offering childcare for those who can only attend with their children, in particular single parents and a library will be re-established for those eager to learn and study.
My own background includes growing up as a child and teenager within a formal Spiritualist Church environment in South Africa, and I hope to bring to my experience of working with both contemporary and traditional themes within spiritualism and spirituality. We thus welcome back those veterans who attended this church over the past 30 years, and extend a warm welcome to those who are experiencing the church for the first time.
As head of this Church, I welcome your presence and look forward to establishing a strong and powerful source of Light with you. Please contact me directly should you have any suggestions, advice or concerns. Your honesty is a gift and always appreciated by me!
